SMEs THINK BIG; the growth imperative by SAP

A recent survey conducted by SAP has found that, despite the economic downturn, UK small to medium-sized enterprises are in a ‘confident and optimistic’ mood and that they are still, ‘thinking big’ despite being aware of the challenges that this involves.

The survey finds that there are 4 key pillars of growth; Innovation, Management, Technology and Money & Finance.

Other key findings:

  • 96% of the SMEs surveyed confirmed that they are looking to grow their business
  • 30% are seeking to grow at a fast rate than their competitors
  • On average, SMEs expect to grow by 20% in the next 2 years, 48% expecting to grow by more than this
  • 41% of SMEs rate growth over commercial stability, seeing this as a  greater priority over the coming two years
  • Confidence in growth predictions is high – 81% are confident that they will achieve their planned growth objectives

SMEs DRIVING GROWTH IN 2012

At least half of the growth in the year ahead will come from SMEs, accounting for the majority of private sector jobs created in 2012.

With more than 95% of all UK businesses being SMEs, this sector has a vital role to play in pushing forward our economy, according to the recent “Ingenious Britain” feature in the Sunday Telegraph.

Ingenious Britain is an exciting initiative, with supporters including The Prime Minister’s Office, the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, and The OECD. Its role is to promote innovation in the UK to drive economic growth.

SAP  is a proud sponsor.

The Sunday Telegraph supplement included an interview on SMES thinking BIG with better tools.spacer
